A small ceiling stain can raise a big question: where is the water coming from?

The drip’s location is a clue, not always the source. Water can travel before it becomes visible inside. That is why a useful repair begins with diagnosis rather than guessing which spot needs sealant.

Record What You Notice

Note when the leak appears, the weather at the time, and whether the stain changes. Take photos safely from inside or from the ground. Previous repair records can help the inspector understand the pattern.

Protect the Area Safely

Keep people away from wet electrical equipment, unstable ceilings, and other immediate hazards. Do not climb onto a wet roof. Tell the team about active water entry when you call.

Ask What the Repair Addresses

A proposal should explain the observed condition, the planned repair, and any remaining uncertainty. If the same problem keeps coming back, ask what further investigation is needed.

A little leak deserves attention before it becomes an ongoing interior problem. Start with the symptom; you do not need to diagnose the roof first.
